Note Learning

Today in our music lesson we began to look at the different notes that can be used to create music. We learnt their names and how many beats each note has. We used drinks to help us remember:

Crotchet - 1 beat - tea
Quaver - 2 beats - coff-ee
Semiquaver - 4 beats - capp-u-cci-no
Crotchet rest - 1 silent beat - open hands but no talking

We practised doing them together before working in groups to begin to read a section of for. We then clapped out the notes that we had.

Coffee Morning Fun

This morning we hosted our coffee morning for our family to come and find out what we have been up to recently.

First, we performed The Sound Collector by using the actions to help us. Here is a video we took of it last week:

Then, we moved on to help our family members with the three different activities for that session. We had charades as if the sound collector had collected our voices, writing our own sound collector poem and then listening to our pieces of music created using school sounds and seeing if our family members could identify the sounds used.

It was great fun, thank you to everyone who came.

Feature Finders

This week in literacy we are looking at character descriptions ready to write our own by the end of the week. To help us we looked at four different character descriptions. We worked together in groups to begin to find the features included in character descriptions and wrote a success criteria for us to use when we wrote our own descriptions.
